5 Things I Do to Start My Day Off Right
A simple morning ritual to feel grounded, clear, and connected—before work, email, or social media.
Dear Goddess,
It’s not news that the morning sets the tone for your entire day.
Recently, a community member asked me: “Diana, I’d like to create a cohesive morning ritual I can actually stick with. What do you always make sure to do in the morning?”
I loved this question—because we can all learn from each other. So I wanted to share what works for me and invite you to share yours too. Let’s exchange ideas.
These are the practices I aim to do each morning before work stuff, email, social media, or responding to anyone.
I’ll freely admit it’s not always perfect. But I notice a huge difference in my energy levels, mental focus, and overall presence when I commit to these.
Here are my five favorite morning rituals.
1) Morning Tea (A Soul-Feeding Ritual)
There’s something deeply nourishing about starting my day with a hot beverage—slowly, intentionally, and with presence.
I’ve made it a ritual: I’ll often light a candle and focus on each step as I prepare it, almost like a moving meditation.
My favorites lately:
- Coconut matcha latte (ceremonial-grade matcha + coconut milk + stevia)
- Golden milk latte (turmeric + coconut milk + hot water + cinnamon + stevia)
This simple practice immediately shifts me into a calmer, more grounded energy—before life starts asking things of me.
2) Automatic Writing / Morning Pages
A friend gifted me The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron about a decade ago, and it introduced me to the concept of “morning pages”—three pages of stream-of-consciousness writing first thing in the morning.
I’ve journaled since I was little, but something about the structure (and the number three) really clicked. Ever since, no matter what else is happening, I sit down and write.
Some days, it’s full of “downloads” and clarity. Other days, it’s messy and mundane.
But I show up anyway.
Because the magic is in the showing up, and the page has become one of the most consistent ways I hear myself.
3) Move My Body (Follow the Flow)
After tea and journaling, I usually take my little fur daughter, Bella, for a walk. That movement—plus fresh air—does wonders for my nervous system and mood.
If I wake up late and can’t walk her right away, I still make a point to move in some way:
- stretching
- hip circles
- a few mobility or strengthening exercises
- or dancing in the kitchen to get the blood pumping
I focus less on time or “doing it perfectly,” and more on being fully present with what my body is asking for.
Sometimes it wants a gentle stretch. Other times it wants a full podcast walk or bike ride. I follow the flow, and that flexibility has served me so well going into my business day.
4) Balance My Energy (Chakras + Nervous System Reset)
Before creating content/writing, client calls or teaching, I make a point to balance my chakras (my energy centers).
This can be quick, just a few minutes, to clear mental noise and recalibrate my system so I feel grounded, open, and present.
It’s one of my favorite “behind the scenes” rituals, especially on days when I’ll be holding space for others.
5) A Simple Prayer to Offer the Day
Before I wrap up my morning solo time, I often say something like:
“Thank you, Spirit. Help me be Divine Love and show up fully in the most authentic, loving way.”
It’s a reminder that no matter what happens that day, I can anchor back into my center and truth.
It’s also my way of offering the day to Source, so I’m not leading with pressure or performance, but with presence.
Over to You, Goddess 💛
Q: What is one ritual or practice you love doing in the morning?
And what have you noticed it helps you with—your mood, anxiety, focus, intuition, energy, relationships?
Share in the comments. I’d love to learn from you too.
With Divine love,
Diana
