Happy Tuesday!
Have you ever had those moments when you feel like you should be further along in life than you are?
A client shared with me awhile back how much she would beat herself up that she wasn’t married yet in her 40s.
Lots of her family members chose to follow the traditional route of married, kids and the whole sha-bang in their 20s and 30s.
This woman had an amazing life but this mental loop of comparison made her feel like she had missed the boat and she couldn’t help comparing herself to them and feeling bad about the choices she had made.
But one thing I share with her that she said helped her to come back to the present was this simple mantra:
“I cannot be late for my Divine appointment. I measure my success by how true I’m being to myself.”
It helped her create space and notice that all the choices she had made had helped her become the fabulous, self-aware Goddess she was now.
Her experiences had helped her grow and she was much more positioned to be a better partner for someone now than before.
Looking back she saw that as much as she felt like she “should” have done that earlier, there were other things her Soul needed to do first and she didn’t want to choose just anyone to build a life and family with!
Instead of measuring her success as a woman by checking off these unspoken, expected benchmarks for the sake of having them, asking herself how true she was to herself in any given moment helped her see that she was already successful.
It didn’t diminish her desires or longings, but using the mantra above helped loosen up the beating herself up part and trust that if a happy marriage and babies were truly in the cards, and she was taking inspired action when guided, she wouldn’t ever be “late” for her fate.
Sure, they may look different than what she expected, but that feeling she yearned for when she thought about marriage and kids would be met. She could let go a little.
She took the first full breath she’d taken in weeks and said there was a feeling of peace and relief.
Now it’s your turn (if you want to try this mantra!)
How to use it:
In quiet moments where you feel fears rising up in your chest, close your eyes, take a deep, cleansing breath and say the mantra above. Say it three time with deep feeling. Notice how you feel.
Will you play with this over the week and let me know how it goes? Hit reply or share a comment on the blog!
