Happy Wednesday!

It’s  Q+A time, where I take your questions from the Goddess community.

Today’s question is about dating someone who just got out of a divorce.

Q: Dear Diana, I started dating someone-he’s just out of a divorce and he did everything right in the beginning. Asked me out, took the lead and then out of nowhere he says he wants things to be casual, needs his space and now he’s with someone else. What did I do wrong?

A: So often, it’s easy to go into a story about what you did wrong but there is always more to consider. Click below for my full answer to this!

This was VERY similar to my situation except he said he wanted to go casually date but the first girl after me he’s given the title of girlfriend and she’s posting their relationship status on FB. It’s crushing me because I was hopeful he’d come back when he was ready for serious but I don’t think he will come back now. I know he’s denying his true feelings for me all because he’s scared of getting into similar situation of a step-child. He doesn’t have that issue with the new girl so he’s settling for less to avoid a trigger instead of giving us a chance to show him it would be different. It hurts so bad to know I had the guy I wanted, he saw a future and acted that way until he got scared and ran. I really was hoping it was a case of go casually date, get it out of his system and when ready for serious he’d come back but it looks like he’s going to settle with this girl. I know I didn’t do anything wrong, I don’t have that problem, I just wish he’d realize his feelings he had for me and work through his problems with me instead of taking his love away; even more hurtful that he so quickly gave himself to the girl right after me. So it wasn’t a commitment issue for him, it’s the fear of step-child that drove him away. I know he won’t get over that to come back.

      Hi Jessica,
Thank you so much for sharing this. Love that you see that you did nothing wrong-at the end of the day, it’s just creating space for the right person to come into your life. Much Love, Diana
